Office of the Provost plays an instrumental role in academic planning and policy development through supporting the work of the Academic Policy Committee (APC) and its Sub-Committee for Undergraduate Studies (SCUS) . We assist the APC in the development, implementation and monitoring of academic matters affecting the University as a whole, notably the preparation of the Academic Development Proposals and formulation of the criteria and methodologies for resource allocation to support academic work. We also support the University's communication with the University Grants Committee in relation to our academic endeavours.

CityU’s academic quality framework is enshrined in the Principles, Policies and Practices for Quality Education which offer an institutional infrastructure within which operational responsibility for quality assurance and improvement is located at the College/School level. The Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), a subcommittee of the Senate, provides oversight and advice on policy matters, as well as on academic review.
The Office of the Provost supports the work of the QAC to assist Colleges and Schools in their enhancement of teaching and learning quality through:
Teaching Feedback Questionnaire collects data on the quality of teaching from the perspective of students. Over the years, the TFQ supports the University policy requiring Faculties and equivalent bodies to evaluate the teaching of their staff on an individual basis. The TFQ provides an important input for Deans and Heads of Departments to maintain and improve the quality of teaching in their units.
The Learning Experience Questionnaire (LEQ) solicits student reflections about their learning experience during a particular course. Following a lengthy pilot period, the LEQ instrument has now been formally adopted as a university-wide student evaluation tool with effect from Semester B, 2009/10. The data collected will be used by departments for continuing improvement of course design and delivery.
