Political Studies

Politics affects everyone and shapes everything in the world. Political studies at the Department of Public Policy begin with the most basic question of what is politics and go further to understand and analyse political structures, institutions, processes and impacts. The scope of this subject area moves beyond formal institutions to cover various topics ranging from political ideology to electoral behaviour, from international relations to local democratization, from legislative action to social movement, from public opinion to e-government, and from regime legitimacy to corruption. Political studies combine political, humanistic, economic, and sociological perspectives in studying various political phenomena and use a variety of methodological approaches and tools in conducting political analysis.

The faculty members of political studies have solid training and are experienced and productive researchers while they are also highly devoted teachers. They maintain very close interactions with their students and help them produce high-quality scholarly works.

If your research interests are related to government, civil society, state-society interaction, social conflict, public participation, central-local relations, civil liberty, international politics, public integrity, government-business relations, or anything else concerning formal or informal political institutions and processes, then political studies would be the right choice for you.
