Launch of Carbon Reduction Implementation and Assessment Strategy
On 14th August 2014, investigators Dr Maria Francesch (PI) of City University and Dr SK Tang (Co-I) of AECOM launched the Carbon Reduction Implementation and Assessment Strategy cum App for Hong Kong (CRiAS)
. Eighty-nine environmental professionals, scholars and advocates attended the event which was jointly co-hosted by the Department of Public Policy (City U), AECOM (funder of project) and the Environmental Management Association (HK). The study analyses policy targets and measures for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the building, land transportation, and energy sectors in Hong Kong and proposes an integrated strategy through which the implementation of such targets and measures can be achieved. The CRiAS strategy is a primer for Hong Kong and sets a model that may be applicable to other cities looking for solutions to GHGs emissions. Results of the study are also published in the book Climate Change Governance in Chinese Cities
