TAYLOR, Bill came to City University of Hong Kong in 1993, having previously studied and worked both industry and academia in Japan and the UK. Bill has a strong interest in critical research in international political economy, examining in particular the role and organisation of labour. Bill's publications and research cover aspects of employment relations in China, Japanese transnational corporations, gendered organisation of work and critical studies of human resource management and collective human rights. Bill undertakes research mainly in China, but also Bangladesh, Cambodia, Japan, UK US and Vietnam. Bill has held various fellowships and scholarships in Japan (Monbusho and Japan Foundation), the UK (SERC) and US (Fulbright) as well as visiting positions in Cornell, Harvard, Hitotsubashi, Monash, Tokyo and Warwick universities in departments ranging from Law to Economics. Bill is actively involved in promoting labour rights, working with governments, tripartite organisations and NGOs and was involved in the inter governmental EU-China Dialogue Seminar On Human Rights.
