Prof. Paul Chu holds two CityU staff individual swimming records (long course) in butterfly and breast stroke: 32.87" (50m butterfly) since 1999 and 1'27.05" (100m breast stroke) since 1999.   He also held the 50m breast stroke staff record of 38.22" from 2001 to 2012.

Prof. Paul Chu was a member of the Kwun Tong Masters Swimming Team (KTS) from 1992 to 2020 and won more than 100 medals in Hong Kong masters swimming competitions.  His KTS relay team held two Hong Kong masters swimming records from 1998/1999 to 2006.  Prof. Chu and his KTS teammates swam the 200 year-old (combined age of four swimmers between 200 and 239) 4x25m short-course medley relay in  1'01.60" on February 28, 1998 and 4x50m long-course free style relay in 2'00.22" on March 20, 1999.

Prof. Paul Chu was Honorary Manager of the City University of Hong Kong Varsity Swimming Team from 1999 to 2021. 

 

Prof. Paul Chu was multiple time winners in men's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles, and teams competitions in CityU staff-student badminton tournaments.
