The First International Symposium on System Informatics and Engineering (ISSIE 2011)

Qingdao China, 11-13 July 2011

The First International Symposium on System Informatics and Engineering was held on 11 July 2011. Over 100 international attendees presented theories and applications of system-driven knowledge discovery and design/operations improvements in a wide range of domains and disciplines. Professor Michael Pecht chaired an Invited Session on "Advances in Prognostics and Systems Health Management." The PHM Centre, City University of Hong Kong, presented 2 papers in this conference. The first, "A Theoretical Model to Minimize the Operational Cost for Canary-equipped Electronic System's Health Management" focused on models for the derivation of the expected total cost per unit time in terms of the order interval and maximum allowable stock level. The second paper, titled "Research on Prognostics-based Reliability for Lithium Batteries" presented advances in battery health monitoring and life prediction.
