Programme Aims

The programme aims to train and produce graduates who can contribute to the extension of knowledge in their chosen subject areas, preparing them for advanced research at the PhD level or professional careers in science and engineering.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)

Upon successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

(1) master the content and methods of their chosen subject areas;
(2) conduct independent research;
(3) formulate and carry out applied research in their chosen subject areas;
(4) communicate effectively with the learned community about the research process and findings;
(5) create new knowledge through the process of applied research.

Thesis:

An MPhil thesis should present the results of research investigation, give evidence of a sound understanding of the area of study, its context and applicability, and make a contribution to knowledge.
