Quality becomes more important in enhancing the competitiveness of HK/China export in the global market as the low-cost advantage is diminishing. The surge of quality issues in past few years from Asian Pacific exports to US, EU and Japan has prompted tightening inspection and restriction of imports. Numerous recent recalls of China-manufactured products ranging from food, toys to automobile components further unveiled the importance of having good quality, safety and environmental performances in manufactured goods.
Training with knowledge and skill in quality engineering and systems is thus becoming an important competitive edge for university students' personal and career development. Quality Engineering and Systems (QES) Minor is developed to support the students to serve the manufacturing/engineering services operations in the process control, quality assurance system, continuous quality improvement, and product compliance of international quality, safety and environmental standards aspects.
QES Minor aims to provide training of concepts, techniques, and analysis tools in quality engineering and systems for shop floor and higher level manufacturing/engineering services processes and operations. On completion of the QES Minor, students should be able to:

To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least one semester of study in CityU, gained 15 CUs and achieved a CGPA of 3.0 or above.
