On 28 October 2006, the Department of MEEM was presented Web Care Award 2006 (Excellence Award) by Internet Professionals Association (iProA) in a Presentation Ceremony held at Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

The Web Care Award, which is a key component of iProA's e-Inclusion Campaign, aims to recognise websites that can be accessible by everyone, including people with disabilities. The objectives of the campaign is to bridge digital divide in society so that everyone will have equal opportunities in sharing the benefits brought about by advanced information technology.

The Department of MEEM, among 92 organizations, was presented the award in recognition of our efforts in creating an accessible web site for persons with different needs. This is the third year in a row that MEEM Departmental Home Page, www.cityu.edu.hk/meem/, has been honoured with the award.

All qualified entries are awarded with the Excellence, Gold, or Silver Prize, depending on the web accessibility level they achieved. To qualify for the Excellence Award, the website must pass two online validators, namely Markup and CSS Validation Services, provided by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We are committed to enhancing web accessibility on our Departmental website and will strive to ensure that in the future new content added to the site also conforms to these web standards.
