The Programme

The rapid expansion of industry, communication networks, and logistic networks of all sorts in Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta Region, and Asia Pacific has generated growing needs for advanced engineering and service-oriented enterprises of all types. There is an increasing demand for professionals who possess both technological and professional engineering management expertise.

The Master of Science in Enterprise Technology and Management (MSETM) Programme aims to satisfy this need. The MSETM Programme is developed to meet the educational needs of technical specialists as well as professional engineering managers, by offering a world-class quality, in-depth education opportunity covering the integration of technology and management in modern enterprises.

The MSETM Programme focuses on the creation of added value quality and productivity improvements, and is particularly suitable for those whose job responsibilities include, or relate to one or more of the following subject areas.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs):

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  1. apply an extensive knowledge of planning, evaluating, designing, implementing, and managing modern factories by employing up-to-date technologies and systems on the shop floor, in integrated design, and in business management offices;
  2. apply state-of-the-art technologies to generate creative ethical solutions in setting up an enterprise that meets all market needs;
  3. apply analytical skills of multi-disciplinary, multi-variable engineering, and engineering management to generate new ideas for the integration of enterprise technology and management; and
  4. apply effective interdisciplinary communication skills of team work, documentation and Internet / web-based methods to develop an enterprise that reflects increasingly customer-oriented, globally competitive, and dynamicallychanging world markets.

Note 1: Study-path A with the Dissertation: Student must obtain a grade of C+ or above, in the course MEEM6022 "Project Development Study".

Note 2: Study-path B without the Dissertation: Students are required to select 3 electives.

Note 3: Length of studies: 1.5 to 5 years (Part-time) / 1 year (Full-time)

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:


Tuition Fees and Duration

Tuition fees: HK$2,670 per credit (2011 Cohort)

The tuition fee level for existing students is fixed in accordance with their year of admission until graduation.

Total credit required: 30

All courses carry 3 credits, except the dissertation, which offers 9 credits.

Duration of study: For part-time MSc students, the length of study is 2 years. All taught courses are taught as evening classes. If the candidate selects a study-path including the dissertation, then he / she can complete the programme in 1.5 years. For full-time MSc students the program offers 1-year study length.
