The leading French
community in the Far East
Hong Kong has the largest French community in the Far
East. Out of a total estimated population of about 6,000
French citizens, 4 660 are registered with the Consulate,
including 100 residents in Macau. More than 450 French
companies conduct business in Hong Kong. 
A diverse presence
The French economic presence in Hong Kong is quite diverse.
The service sector dominates: banks (all of the large
French banks are represented), insurance, and communication.
The luxury goods industry has a strong presence: wine
and spirits, fashion and accessories, haute couture, perfumes
