Associate of Arts in Bilingual Communication Studies
(Spanish and English)

Mode of Study: Two-year Full-time

PROGRAMME AIMS

  • On graduation you will have a strong foundation in spoken and written Spanish and English for application in the business context.
  • You will have good corporate communication skills.
  • You will have acquired an awareness of the major issues relating to commerce and industry in Spain and Latin America.
  • You will be familiar with contemporary Spanish and Latin American culture and major issues in the Spanish media.
  • You will know how to present yourself and communicate your ideas effectively in Spanish and English.
  • You will be familiar with the techniques of corporate image building.
  • You will have acquired valuable skills in digital document design.
  • You will be able to function as a translator or liaison interpreter whenever there is demand for your combination of languages (Spanish, English, Chinese).

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates can take up employment that requires proficiency in Spanish and English Graduates of this program will have a good command of both these languages (in addition to their knowledge of Chinese), enabling them to pursue careers in customer services, marketing, media, publishing, purchasing, journalism, public relations, tourism, and other areas, both locally and regionally, in the private sector or with non-profit making organizations.
 
ARTICULATION/ FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Articulation routes to local and overseas universities offer students the possibility of majoring or minoring in Spanish, obtaining a first degree such as Bachelor of Arts in English Studies, Asian Studies, or European Studies, among others.

PROGRAMME ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy one of the following:
  • E in 1 HKALE or E in 2 HKALE AS subjects plus E in 5 HKCEE subjects; or
  • Have a recognized diploma in relevant disciplines
