AABCS Programme Aims and Objectives
This programme aims to provide a broad-based language education for A-level school leavers. It prepares students to take up work in the international environment of the Hong Kong SAR or in China. It also provides a good platform for students who intend to further their studies in relevant degree programmes in language and communication but are not able to find a place in the funded programmes due to the limited quota.
Graduates from the AABCS will have a high level of competence in their option languages (English and Chinese, or Japanese and English, or Japanese and Chinese, or Korean and English, or Korean and Chinese, or French and English, or Spanish and English) as well as a good mastery of computer technology for communication purposes.
Aims of the programme
- To enhance students’ language proficiency and communication skills in their option languages;
- To enhance students’ sensitivity and confidence in mediating between their option languages;
- To equip students with the IT skills for the knowledge-based economy;
- To provide a conducive learning environment for students to develop their creativity, flexibility, critical thinking, learning strategies and multi-tasking skills that are needed for employment as well as further studies.
Objectives of the programme
- To provide a solid foundation in the practical use of their option languages;
- To prepare students for bilingual work and mediation between their option languages;
- To enable students to learn and apply communication technology skills;
- To prepare students for further study in relevant language and communication areas.
