This programme aims at producing graduates with Chinese language expertise needed for different career sectors in Hong Kong.

1. Students will have high competence in Chinese, strong proficiency in Putonghua, as well as a mastery of work place English.

2. Students will have high ability in written Chinese at a professional level suited for their career needs.

3 Students will have a familiarity with Chinese culture, and an ability to use computer technology for communication purposes.

2 Year Full-time

On completion of the Associate of Arts in Applied Chinese Studies, you will be able to:

• Perform with high competence and confidence as:

  - Professional communicators in Chinese at the Associate Professional/ Professional level in a range of position;

  - Bachelor degree students in relevant disciplines at advanced standing

• Demonstrate professional competence in the application of Chinese language and Putonghua for communication in different career fields.
  
  
• Use appropriate forms and styles to produce Chinese writing with accuracy and creativity.
  
  
• Synthesize your standing of cultural and social dimensions of Putonghua and Chinese language and use it in different communication contexts.
  
  
• Apply English oral and writing skills to the workplace.
  
  
• Apply your knowledge and skills of computer technology to handle different forms of communication.
  
  
• Apply strong generic skills, especially interpersonal communication and analytical skills, and the ability to learn how to learn.

• Have a familiarity with Chinese culture and Chinese literature.
