Voyages of Discovery: History on the High Seas 航行 • 探索 • 創作 “Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships: New Media Art Exhibition” is a collaboration between City University of Hong Kong and the National Palace Museum in Taipei. The exhibition brings to life the sea-faring culture and the Qing Navy’s advancement during the 19th century. CityU Library will be screening a number of documentaries in September and October about Chinese and international maritime history. Competition To celebrate the “Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships: New Media Art Exhibition”, CityU Library is inviting students to submit a short piece of creative writing inspired by the Exhibition and one of the films in our special maritime history screenings. All entries have the opportunity to win a cash coupon of HK$100 (Ten prizes), and the most creative entry will win a cash coupon of HK$500. The creative writing can be in whatever format the films and the “Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships” exhibition inspire you to create. For example, it might be a poem, a short essay, a film review, or a piece of creative fiction. The text can be in English or Chinese.
