The Library is pleased to announce the following training session on Emerald Management eJournals. During the session, participants will be introduced to the content of the journals, how to search the eJournals effectively and efficiently, and how to use various features to organize and cite your selected articles. Emerald Management eJournal collections provide access to a growing portfolio of 214 journals representing major management disciplines, from marketing and logistics, to strategy, human resource management, accounting and finance, quality, operations and production management, and information management.

The Library is pleased to announce the availability of new services using Web 2.0 technology to help keep you informed with e-resources updates, new titles added to the Library's collection, and Library news.

Library e-resources updates are now provided frequently through Twitter. Updates include: announcements of new e-resources, e-resources on trial, new features, tips on the use of e-resources, training opportunities, and down time of Library e-resources. You may view the tweets in the widget on the E-Resources page on the Library web site or choose to receive updates by subscribing to the RSS feed of cityulib_eres's tweets. If you twitter, you may also follow cityulib_eres and you will receive CityU Library e-resources updates on your homepage when you log in to Twitter.

Do you want to keep abreast of the new books and other materials in your field that the Library adds to its collection? Now you can subscribe to RSS feeds to receive updated information about new books and DVDs added to the Library's collection in addition to the Library News. Look for the RSS icon when browsing the new titles lists and reading the Library News. If you need help setting up an RSS feed, check out the What is RSS? page of the Library website.

Additionally, in order to help you learn more about RSS feeds and how they can help you keep pace with what is happening in the Library, in the news, and in your field, the Library will offer the workshop Using RSS Feeds to Keep Current with News and Research. Please note that during the four weeks prior to start of Revision Period (2 November - 30 November 2009), the Library will open from 8:30 am till 1:00 am.

During the Revision and Examination Periods (1 December - 19 December 2009), the Library (excluding Information Space) and Self Study Area in CYC Building will open from 8:30 am till 1:00 am, while the Information Space and Self Study Area in FYW Building will stay opened on a 24-hour basis.

During the Semester Break (20 December 2009 - 10 January 2010) and Lunar New Year Break (13 February - 19 February 2010), special opening and counter hours will apply.

As part of its Information Skills Workshops, the Library is pleased to announce that registration is open for its workshop for advanced users, Using RefWorks - Your Personal Web-based Database of References and Bibliography Creator. During this workshop participants will learn how to centrally store references and citations, organize references into folders, insert in-text references, and create a bibliography by using RefWorks, a web-based bibliographic management tool.

OSIRIS

OSIRIS is a comprehensive database of listed companies, banks and insurance companies from more than 190 countries. In addition to the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and ratios, it contains a wide range of complementary information such as news, ownership, subsidiaries, M&A activity and ratings.

BankScope

BankScope is a comprehensive, global database containing information on over 28,900 public and private banks. BankScope also provides ratings, rating reports, country risk ratings and reports, news and detailed ownership information.

Over the years, users have frequently commented that it is inconvenient to have books related to Humanities and Social Sciences shelved in two separate and distant areas. To improve the ease of access to the Humanities and Social Sciences collections, books within the Library of Congress Classes A – G will be shelved by classes HM – P to form the Humanities and Social Sciences Collection, providing one-stop subject access to users. In order to group these books together, we need to relocate books from one area of the Library to another. While these books are being relocated we will provide additional directional signage and staff guidance to assist users with locating their needed materials. This phase of the renovation project will be completed by the end of September. We hope that the relocation of the items will improve users' access to the Library's collections and improve our service quality. We recognize the importance of easy access to Library materials, and appreciate your patience and support of this phase of our renovation.
