Library Renovation (Phase One) ˇV Construction work begins!

With the completion of collection relocation and other preparation works for the first phase of the renovation, we are pleased to announce that the construction of the ˇ§Learning Commonsˇ¨ will commence this week.

In consideration that the revision and examination period is approaching, the Library will convert the four classrooms joined to the Library on 3/F of the Cheng Yick Chi Building into a temporary study area. The Library will try to minimize the possible disturbances caused by builderˇ¦s work. In addition, to sustain the services provided by the Information Space, the Library will relocate its entrance to the door next to the main entrance of the Academic Building (next to Lift No. 7). The above arrangements will be effective from 27 July 2007.

In order to provide opportunities for library users to participate in the Library Renovation Project, the Library has newly set up a ˇ§Furniture Trial Zoneˇ¨ inside the Information Space. Users are not only invited to try on those furniture to be selected, they can also indicate their preference by placing their vote through a computer program.

The Library has also launched a website on the Library Renovation Project (http://www.cityu.edu.hk/lib/renovation/). The website will be used as a major channel for the Library to dispatch news and updates on the Library Renovation Project in the future. All Library users are encouraged to visit this website regularly, so as to update themselves with the latest progress of the renovation project.

Thanks very much for your continuous support!
