Library and Information Skills Programme (Semester A, 2008-2009)AimThe Library and Information Skills Programme (LISP) aims to improve the ability of students to make effective use of the collections, services, and various electronic resources of the CityU Library in their academic pursuit. The ProgrammeThe Programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of students from different faculties/schools. For each category of disciplines (Business / Humanities & Social Sciences / Science & Engineering), the Programme consists of a series of five short courses. Two identical sessions are available for choice for most of the courses. To benefit fully from the Programme, students are strongly advised to take at least ALL of the four core courses but they may also take a selection of any of the core and optional courses.
Medium of InstructionClasses/workshops will be conducted in English. VenueAll sessions will be held in CSC Teaching Studios. Online RegistrationPlease read the programme descriptions before you register for the Programme. Online registration is via AIMS and is on a first-come-first-served basis. To register:
Record FormDownload a record form and use it as a record of the sessions you have registered for. The form can also serve as proof of attendance if students are requested by their course instructors to take this Programme as a course requirement. At the end of each session attended, students can present the form to the Library staff to get a stamp. Students getting four stamps for the four core courses are deemed to have completed the Programme. CertificateStudents who have attended all core courses may register for a certificate at the end of the last workshop attended, or at the Library's Reference Counter by showing the Record Form within one month of completing the Programme. |
