CityU-HKSTP Pre-Incubation Programme



To offer further support to our start-ups and student entrepreneurship teams, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) launched the “CityU-HKSTP Pre-Incubation Programme” in March 2017 under the CityU-HKSTP Incubator Scheme of CityU Innopreneurship Ecosystem.


This Programme aims to accelerate the growth of CityU supported start-ups and student entrepreneurship teams by providing comprehensive 24/7 incubation support and a functional and flexible co-working space for them to collaborate, exchange ideas, and conduct business activities.

Successful applicants will be granted an access to the co-working space “Lion Rock 72” at InnoCentre or ‘’Soft Landing Centre” at Science Park and enjoy the associated services and facilities, such as meeting room service, internet service and TecONE.


“Lion Rock 72” is a 10,000 sq. ft. co-working space located in 1/F, InnoCentre, 72 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon


‘’Soft Landing Centre” is located at 6/F, Block 1, Science Park Core Building, Hong Kong Science Park, Shatin, New Territories

The principal applicant should be a CityU current full-time student or alumnus (who graduated within five years and is working full-time for his/her start-up). Priority will be given to CityU supported start-ups/entrepreneurship teams.

Applicants should complete the Application form and submit it together with the following supporting documents by email to cityuic@cityu.edu.hk.

  1. A brief business plan (no more than two A4 pages)
  2. A copy of student ID card/graduate certificate of each CityU member
  3. CVs of the principal applicant and team member(s)
  4. A copy of business registration (if applicable)

Pre-incubation Period August 2018 - 31 May 2019

An Assessment Panel will be formed. Applicants may be invited to an interview by the Panel. All applications will be primarily evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Alternative workspaces
  • Business sustainability
  • Management team capabilities
  • Market viability
  • Project innovation and creativity, including potential intellectual property
  • Stage of business
  • University/social/community impact

Each successful team will be granted an access (with three smart cards) to the designated co-working space during the pre-incubation period, and to enjoy using the hot desks and associated services and facilities for free.
