HTC is a pioneer in innovative smart and VR technologies, and a staunch supporter of the ecosystem with its $100 million accelerator program Vive X. HTC is going to step up efforts to boost VR content, as the Taiwan-based firm seeks to outcompete Facebook and Sony in the booming sector. "The shortage of killer applications or quality content is still one of the major bottlenecks for VR's development," said Alvin Graylin, head of HTC's VR business in the mainland.

Soul Machines is developing a completely new user interface between humans and their machines, based on technology created by Dr Mark Sagar - a two time Oscar-winning scientist for Avatar - and his team at the University of Auckland. “Our engineering team will focus on bringing human life to technology that is intelligent, emotive and adaptive. Our goal is to define the user experience for Artificial Intelligence systems and platforms,” Dr Sagar says.
