Teaching Lead (at the rank of Research Associate) in the Office of the Vice-President (Development & External Relations) (2 posts) (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. D/R/077/09]

 

The Office of the Vice-President (Development and External Relations) is recruiting a team of high calibre staff who will work for an inter-institutional project on coding education and computational thinking for upper primary schools. It aims at strengthening the logical thinking and problem-solving skills of the students, as well as cultivating their interest and motivation in coding and computational education. The appointees will be core members of the project team, and play a key role in implementing the coding education for primary schools.

Duties

Act as the relationship manager with primary school teachers; conduct co-teaching in coding classes in primary schools; support parent education; assist in recruiting a team of part-time student helpers as Teaching Assistants (TAs), design and offer training for the team of TAs, manage and supervise them as well as evaluate their performance; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A good honours degree, preferably in I.T. or related fields. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated, patient, mature with experience in leading a team, good team-players with ability to work independently and under pressure; work closely with different parties and handle multiple tasks. Good computer literacy (including proficiency in MS office), good command of English and Chinese, good organizational and problem-solving skills are also required. Relevant teaching experience and working with primary students would be an advantage.
