Research Assistant in the Centre for Applied One Health Research and Policy Advice (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. C/R/309/09]

 

Project

Applied Food Safety and Quality Research – RMGS

Duties

Carry out laboratory research involving nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) analysis for metagenomic studies for the Project.

Requirements

A Master’s degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences/Microbiology or related disciplines, with no more than a total of 6 years of services at the University.  Strong knowledge of molecular biology, tissue culture, and molecular diagnostics (e.g. conventional PCR, and qPCR); proficiency in nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and qPCR; good command of written and spoken English; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; being self-motivated; and ability to work independently and in a team are required.  Applicants with research experience in molecular virology, molecular diagnostics, and metagenomics are encouraged to apply. 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
