Postdoc/Research Assistant (2 posts) in the Department of Biomedical Sciences (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. C/R/288/09]

 

Project

Modelling of Hong Kong COVID-19 Control Strategies Considering Different Population Immunity Scenarios


Duties

The appointees will work closely with our team and collaborators at School of Data Science and Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health on research related to current COVID-19 outbreak control. Responsibilities include building and maintaining R or Matlab packages for disease transmission model, performing statistical analyses, and writing scientific publications or proposals.

Requirements

A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics/Public Health/Infectious Disease Ecology or Data Science-related disciplines (Mathematics, Computer Sciences, etc.) with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  Strong spoken and written communication skill is required.  Training in quantitative research, statistics or computation is preferred.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
