Project

CityPal: A Chatbot for Enhancing Young Adults' Psychological Well-Being

Duties

This project aims to develop and evaluate a chatbot that can automatically deliver counselling in Cantonese to enhance young adults’ psychological well-being.  Given text input from the user, the chatbot must determine the most appropriate reply from a database of possible replies.  The appointee will exploit machine learning and natural language processing techniques to develop the chatbot, and to conduct user studies to evaluate its performance.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related disciplines, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University. Experience in natural language processing and/or computational linguistics would be an advantage.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
