Research Associate/Postdoc/Research Assistant in the Centre for Applied One Health Research and Policy Advice (Appointment for 24 months) [Ref. C/R/249/09]

 

Project

GCRF One Health Poultry Hub

This position is part of a large-scale interdisciplinary and inter-institutional project, the One Health Poultry Hub, funded by the UK Government’s Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). The project (https://www.onehealthpoultry.org/) involves biological and social sciences, and aims to explore the impact of the intensification of chicken production on the risk of zoonotic diseases in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Duties

Design, conduct and analyse data from epidemiological field studies in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam under the Project; carry out research activities for the Project and the Centre which include preparation of research and grant proposals, writing scientific papers and reports, management of research projects and laboratory; and perform any other assignments such as support of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Requirements

A PhD/Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Veterinary Epidemiology.  Strong skillset, knowledge and demonstrated experience in veterinary epidemiology; excellent communication and writing skills; being highly motivated; and the ability to work independently and in a team are required.

Candidates with a Master’s degree plus 1 year’s relevant experience and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Candidates with a PhD plus at least 3 years' relevent experience and outstanding research performance may be considered for appointment as Research Associate.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
