Global Sourcing, Imperfect Competition, and the Network of Trade
The appointee will involve in research projects primarily on international trade, economic development, infectious diseases, and environmental economics. The projects are empirically focused and policy relevant but draw heavily on economic theory. The appointee will assist in all stages of research, including brainstorming; literature review; model building; data hunting and collection (including managing a data entry team); estimation/simulation in Stata/Matlab/Python, geographic data processing and visualization in ArcGIS; and report/proposal writing.
A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or other quantitative fields (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics); with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University. High proficiency in Mathematics and Statistics courses for graduates with a major in Economics is required. Experience in computer programming with a programming language/software used in social sciences (e.g. Stata, Matlab, Python) is highly preferred. An interest in computer programming; a willingness to learn new programmes; and the ability to solve problems independently are essential.
