Research Fellow/Postdoctoral Fellow (2 posts) in the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. B/R/775/09]

The Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law (RCCL) was established in 1994 to foster research and scholarly discussion on the changing legal landscape of China.  The RCCL is an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to the academic investigation of Chinese law, public and private, substantive and procedural. The Centre aims to further study of all cutting-edge areas related to Chinese legal development, their intricate relationships to and distinctiveness from each other, and questions about the nature and trend of rule of law in China as a whole.  The Centre draws on multiple disciplines outside law, including economics, history, cognitive science, and philosophy.  It also encourages comparative work, especially involving Commonwealth and civil-law systems.

Duties

Conduct research and produce high quality research outputs relating to Chinese and Comparative Law; present research outputs and participate in and contribute to seminars or working paper series; assist in organizing events and day-to-day administration of RCCL; and perform any other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

A PhD with no more than 3 years’ postdoctoral experience; excellent academic qualification in Chinese and Comparative Law; ability to publish research outputs in English; good command of written and spoken English; appropriate experience in conducting academic legal research; and demonstrated potential for excellence in research.  Preference will be given to candidates with a decent publication record.

Candidates with a PhD plus appropriate experience or outstanding research performance may be considered for appointment as Research Fellow.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
