Research Associate/Postdoc/Research Assistant in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. A/R/1064/09]

 

Projects

  1. Development of Robotic Climber for Work-at-height Operation
  2. Development of Advanced Spraying Robot for Underground Pipe Inspection and Rehabilitation

 

Duties

Conduct research work related to the mechanical design, control of robots, development of robot prototype, conceptual engineering, design and detail of controls, and instrumentation in support of robotics development; collaborate with other team members and engineers; provide system integration solution; construct the experimental set-up; conduct testing for the robot and modules; summarize and analyse the results; and prepare technical reports.

Requirements

A PhD/Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electronic Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related disciplines, with no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.

Knowledge of and working experience in CAD, Prototype Development, 3D Printing, Hoist Device and Operation, Electronic Circuit Design and Testing, Programming of Micro-Processors/ROS are required.  Research experience in electronic design and development of robotic systems is preferred.  Familiarity with embedded system, communications and interfacing with various hardware and software devices would be an advantage. 

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Candidates with a PhD plus at least 3 years’ relevant research experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Research Associate.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
