Postdoc in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health (Appointment for approximately 12 months) [Ref. C/R/332/09]

 

Project

Surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Grey Waste Water from Residential Areas, Toilet Waste from Airplanes and Waste Water from Hong Kong International Airport

Duties

Carry out laboratory research involving molecular surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in environmental samples, make original scientific contributions, provide support in manuscript and report writing, and grant applications.

Requirements

A PhD degree in Molecular Virology/Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics with no more than 3 years of experience after the award of a PhD degree.  Proficiency in utilization of molecular, bioinformatics and genomics tools particularly related to next-generation sequencing and sequence analysis; good command of written and spoken English; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; being self-motivated; and ability to carry out research independently and work well within a team are required.  Candidates with extensive research experience in areas of metagenomics and bioinformatics are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
