  1. Automatic Generation of Exercises for Learning Chinese
  2. Magic Vocabulary Puzzle: An Innovative and Pedagogical Chinese Characters E-learning Package

The Projects aim to exploit language technology and natural language processing techniques to develop a mobile app for learners of Chinese as a foreign language.  This app will offer personalized exercises for learning Chinese vocabulary and grammar at different proficiency levels.


Implement efficient algorithms to dynamically generate exercises from large text corpora. 


A good honours degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related disciplines, with 1 year’s experience.  Experience in natural language processing and mobile technology on Android would be an advantage.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ postdoctoral experience may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow.

Candidates with a Master’s degree and 1 year’s post-qualification working experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Research Assistant.
