  1. Automatic Generation of Exercises for Learning Chinese
  2. Magic Vocabulary Puzzle: An Innovative and Pedagogical Chinese Characters E-learning Package


The Projects aim to exploit language technology and natural language processing techniques to develop a mobile app for learners of Chinese as a foreign language.  This app will offer personalized exercises for learning Chinese vocabulary and grammar at different proficiency levels.

Duties

Implement efficient algorithms to dynamically generate exercises from large text corpora. 

Requirements

A good honours degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related disciplines, with 1 year’s experience and no more than a total of 6 years of service at the University.  Experience in natural language processing and mobile technology on Android would be an advantage.

Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ experience after the award of a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoc.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
