Assistant IT Manager/IT Officer (IT Service Management) (at the rank of Executive Officer I/II) in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/192/09]

 

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) maintains the University IT infrastructure and provides end user support.  It is looking for an Assistant IT Manager/IT Officer to take part in ServiceNow platform implementation projects for procurement, asset management, IT service and operation management.

Duties

  1. Participate in the design, customization, testing, maintenance, and integration of various application systems;
  2. Monitor/troubleshoot systems and provide timely remedial measures;
  3. Assist in designing application database and perform database management;
  4. Communicate with internal IT staff and implement solutions to automate repetitive tasks;
  5. Manage and work with vendors and system integrators in implementing effective IT solutions;
  6. Prepare flow diagrams and documentation for effective communication and compliance purposes as well as regular and ad-hoc reports for the management;
  7. Provide technical and programming support; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  1. A good honours degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 7 years’ post-qualification working experience (of which at least 2 years relevant experience);
  2. Proficiency in .NET (both C# and Visual Basic) programming language and SQL languages;
  3. Demonstrated experience in web development using RESTful APls, and construction of JSON/XML for data interoperability;
  4. Knowledge of ServiceNow platform;
  5. Strong analytical, good interpersonal and communication skills; being attentive to details and proactive; and
  6. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

 

Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer (IT Service Management).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
