Junior Technician in Laboratory Animal Research Unit [Ref. C/508/09]

 

 

Duties

To facilitate the smooth and safe operation of the Laboratory Animal Research Unit (LARU) by performing animal care work, and providing good housekeeping to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the Unit.  Main duties include the following:

  1. Provide technical support in daily operation of the Unit, and assist in coordinating and monitoring daily activities of animal use;
  2. Perform animal care work, and ensure the provision of food, water and proper care for all animals in the Unit;
  3. Assist in conducting general health check for animals,
  4. Assist in maintenance of all laboratory equipment/facilities;
  5. Carry out room cleansing and disinfection; and
  6. Perform any other assignments.

 

Shift duty and working on Sundays and public holidays may be required.

Requirements

A good honours degree in Science with experience in handling laboratory animal or Higher Diploma with 2 years’ working experience in laboratory animal science or related areas.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
