Clerk of Works (at the rank of Senior Technical Officer) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. C/468/09]

 

Duties

  1. Perform site management to ensure works completion according to the stipulated schedule and in compliance with contractual requirements;
  2. Supervise contractors to comply with statutory technical (particularly safety) requirements and University house rules;
  3. Carry out site inspections, record site activities, monitor progress, check findings against specifications and drawings, report and issue site memoranda on defects and deviations, and ensure proper rectification;
  4. Provide advice on good construction practice and alternative proposals;
  5. Coordinate and attend meetings with government authorities, consultants, contractors, users and in-house units;
  6. Check drawings as well as ensure record drawings and O&M manuals to conform to as-built work; and
  7. Perform any other assignments.


Irregular working hours (including night duties) may be required.

Requirements

A good honours degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Studies or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”) or equivalent issued by organisations recognised by the Commissioner for Labour, and at least 7 years' relevant post-qualification experience of which 5 years’ site inspection experience in Hong Kong on large-scale high quality institutional building projects (including residential projects).  Strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal and communication skills; being self-motivated for performance achievement; ability to work independently under minimum supervision; and capability to manage all resources effectively are required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
