Design and Planning Lead in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/482/09]

 


Duties

Reporting to the senior management of the University, the appointee will play a leading role in overseeing the planning and construction of the University’s new capital projects, e.g. Jockey Club One Health Tower, International Centre, student hostels and new academic building(s).  S/he will supervise a team of internal professionals in standardizing the design and specifications for all construction and renovation works; monitor the consultants to design, contract and build; recommend effective measures in time management, site securing and manpower planning to meet the target of campus opening; ensure quality design standards in compliance with relevant requirement specifications and government regulations; liaise with relevant government bodies, user departments, design consultants, construction teams and stakeholders of the projects to facilitate effective communication and decision making; and perform any other assignments.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or above in Architecture/Building Construction Management/Building Engineering or related disciplines and full membership of HKIA/HKIE/similar professional bodies, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”), and at least 20 years’ hands-on experience in leading large scale civil or building projects in Hong Kong.  As a senior member of the Office, the appointee is expected to be self-motivated for performance enhancement, with proven management and leadership ability to complete tasks within tight project schedules.  Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) and good analytical and interpersonal skills are required.  Substantial experience in higher education institutions and/or experience in managing government subvention projects, and ability to use AutoCAD and Revit are preferred.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
