Editor/Assistant Editor in the City University of Hong Kong Press [Ref. A/244/09]

 

Duties

Edit the CityU Press’ publications; monitor publication progress; research, investigate, interpret and develop publishing projects with academic faculty; review, evaluate and copyedit teaching materials; assist the Director and senior editors in editorial activities; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A good honours degree in Languages/Translation/Literature or related disciplines with at least 5 years’ solid experience in writing/editing publications.  High proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese), having a keen eye for details with high expectation of quality and delivery, effective communication skills, and being a good team player are required.  Knowledge of international and Mainland copyediting standards is highly desirable.  Wide networking and relationships across the book world would be an advantage.  Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Editor.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.  The appointment will be at the rank of Executive Officer/Technician.
