Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems [Ref. B/110/09]

The Department of Information Systems is one of the six departments in the University’s College of Business.  It has about 40 research and teaching staff and its research productivity has been ranked highly.  The University is currently ranked 2nd in the UT Dallas survey based on research contributions in its Information Systems-related journals in 2014–2016 (http://jindal.utdallas.edu/the-utd-top-100-business-school-research-rankings/search#rankingsByJournal).

Duties

Make significant contribution to research, teach and manage undergraduate and postgraduate courses individually or as a team of the Department; and carry out administrative work and other duties to facilitate the development of the Department.  The posts are substantiation-track positions and tenable from July 2017.


Requirements

A PhD in Information Systems/Computer Science/Informatics or related disciplines, with a strong commitment to high-quality research and excellent teaching in the Information Systems field.  Candidates should have the ability to teach at both graduate (MBA/MSc) and undergraduate (BBA) levels, and demonstrate the capacity to motivate students to appreciate the value of innovative information management on business in the Internet era.  Other desirable qualities include the ability to teach effectively big data and analytics with a strong emphasis on business applications, IS strategy, or other courses in Information Systems (such as security and privacy, knowledge management, e-commerce strategies); and/or experience in administrative work. 

Candidates for Associate Professor should have a substantial track record of research publications in top-tier journals.   Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a strong indication of the ability to publish in top-tier journals.




Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
