The three Departments in the College of Science, namely Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, have been leading their fields in research, teaching and collaborative projects.  The Department of Biostatistics is a new department established on 1 July 2021. 

 

Duties

The appointee will maintain an active research programme in both biostatistical methodology and collaborative research, teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, mentor students, provide service to the Department, College, University and the profession, and undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements

A PhD degree in Biostatistics/Statistics or related quantitative fields.  Candidates for the post of Chair Professor/Professor should possess a distinguished academic record including significant external funding support, demonstrated leadership skills, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education.

Candidates for Associate Professor should be experienced mid-career scholars with established research agendas and substantial experience in teaching and course development. 

Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a strong potential or a solid track record in research and teaching.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
