Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant in the Department of English (Appointment for 3 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. B/R/798/09]

 

Project

Academic Literacy Skills in the English-medium Environment

Duties

Main duties include:

  1. Preparing and administering test instruments;
  2. Coding, inputting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data;
  3. Building and cleaning corpora;
  4. Transcribing interviews;
  5. Performing literature searches;
  6. Assisting in the development of instructional videos; and
  7. Undertaking any other assignments.


Requirements

A good honours degree in Humanities/Social Sciences.  Excellent skills in written and spoken English and Chinese, good computer literacy, being self-motivated, and ability to work collaboratively in a team are required.  Familiarity with Excel, SPSS, basic descriptive statistical techniques and concordancing tools (such as AntConc) is preferred.

Candidates with a Master’s degree and 1 year’s post-qualification working experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Research Assistant.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
