Research Associate (Research Support and Scholarly Communication) in the Library (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) [Ref. B/R/796/09]



The appointee will be required to:

  1. Conduct database and internet searches to support metadata enhancement and record categorization during the research output content validation and management process for the University’s research information management system;
  2. Assist researchers in meeting the open access requirements of funding agencies through copyright checking and clearance with publishers;
  3. Help in author identity management, author profile maintenance or any other troubleshooting related to different author identifiers;
  4. Support the generation and compilation of research impact reports with related tools;
  5. Assist in answering phone or written enquiries from faculty and departments on the different research support and scholarly communication services, and provide outreach support as needed; and
  6. Perform any other duties as assigned.


A good honours degree. Preferably with research experience and knowledge of different publication types.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good interpersonal and customer service skills; self-motivation, attention to details, good organizational skills, multi-task orientation; and ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and collegially with colleagues are required. Good IT knowledge and proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for Graphic Design, python for programming, HTML/JavaScript for website development and MS Excel for data comparison) are preferred. 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
