Technical Officer in the School of Energy and Environment [Ref. D/178/03]

 

Duties

  1. Developing energy and environment engineering teaching apparatus and conducting laboratory teaching modules;
  2. Providing technical and teaching support for research and teaching laboratories;
  3. Building and designing laboratory set-ups; managing, handling and maintaining laboratory equipment, as well as training of students on equipment operation;
  4. Working with Faculty members and technical team on laboratory issues;
  5. Maintaining occupational health and safety in laboratories; and
  6. Performing general laboratory duties and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  1. A good honours degree in Engineering or related disciplines, with at least 2 years’ relevant laboratory experience. Working experience in tertiary institutions would be an advantage;
  2. Extensive experience in handling, building, designing, maintaining and servicing various types of energy and environmental related laboratory equipment and set-ups. Working knowledge of programming language would be an advantage;
  3. Familiarity with general laboratory safety standards;
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills; and
  5. Willingness to work irregular hours when required.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
