Technical Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/175/09]

 

Duties

The appointee will work in the Service Counter of the Computing Services Centre and be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Provide front-line support to staff and students on using the facilities at the Student Teaching Studio Areas (including the procedures to use the central IT services, and problem solving);
  2. Fix hardware faults and manage fast printing service;
  3. Provide front-line support on: (i) campus on-line services (e.g. email, e-learning, classroom and computer booking), (ii) common application software on Windows, Unix and Mac platforms, and (iii) connection to the campus network and central IT services from off-campus and mobile devices;
  4. Help maintain an orderly environment for classes and studies; and
  5. Perform any other assignments.


Shift duties and working on public holidays on a roster basis are required.


Requirements

  1. A good honours degree/Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 1 year's relevant working experience preferably in IT user support;
  2. Experience in MS Windows 7/10 and Mac OS X environment support, and knowledge of MS Office applications and mobile devices;
  3. Good analytical, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  4. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  5. Ability to work independently and under pressure; and
  6. Being reliable, self-motivated and customer-oriented.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
