IT Manager (Project) (at the rank of Supervisory Executive Officer) in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/172/09]

 

The appointee will work in the Data Centre Services of the Computing Services Centre and oversee projects of the Data Center Services.

Duties

  1. Create and manage project plans, define project schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress;
  2. Align project objectives with the University’s strategic goals, and ensure project team to be clear on the objectives;
  3. Deliver and install technology solutions, help project team with the design and development tasks;
  4. Lead process of issue identification and resolution, and manage risk tracking process;
  5. Monitor the scope of work and manage documentation (such as progress reports, meeting agenda and minutes);
  6. Work multiple projects simultaneously;
  7. Build partnership with teams/stakeholders/vendors; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Work outside office hours will be required.

Requirements

  1. A good honours degree in related disciplines, with professional certificate in PMP and 10 years’ relevant post-qualification experience (of which at least 3 years in IT project management);
  2. In-depth knowledge of Data Centre, virtualization platforms (such as Hyper-V and VMware, HCI, SDN);
  3. Being reliable, self-motivated and detail-oriented; strong communication with internal and external stakeholders; good analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills;
  4. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  5. Ability to work independently and under pressure, as well as effectively with team members; and
  6. Certificate in ITIL/ITSM preferred.


Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant IT Manager (Project) (at the rank of Executive Officer I).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits (where applicable).
