Extra-mural Study Coordinator (at the rank of Supervisory Executive Officer/Executive Officer I/II) in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences [Ref. C/511/09]

 

Duties

The appointee is expected to develop and coordinate, under the guidance of the academic lead, the Animal Husbandry and Clinical Extra-mural Studies (EMS) placement training for veterinary students to gain practical experience with animal-handling and clinical skills; provide student-centered, high-level administrative co-ordination and support for effective organization and implementation of the EMS programme; liaise with local, regional and overseas EMS placement providers to provide EMS opportunities for veterinary students; develop and implement systems to support EMS learning and assessment; and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Master’s degree and/or good honours degree in Animal Science or related disciplines, with at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably in the clinical environment and/or veterinary community.  A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent veterinary degree registrable in Hong Kong is highly preferred.  A Veterinary Nursing qualification would also be an advantage.  Sound knowledge of veterinary professional training and development; excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with faculty, veterinarian, farmers and students; possess multi-tasking, organizational and problem solving skills; and ability to implement, monitor and evaluate the programme and formulate related policies and procedures are required.  Preference will be given to those who are bilingual in English and Chinese.

Candidates with less experience or lower qualifications will be considered for appointment at the rank of Executive Officer I/II.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits (at the rank of Supervisory Executive Officer level where applicable).
