Part-time Associate Editor in the School of Law (Appointment for 12 months) [Ref. B/R/907/09]

Duties

The appointee is expected to provide editorial support to the Asia Pacific Law Review (APLR), an internationally refereed journal and is the pre-eminent publication based in Asia focusing on legal issues relating to Asia and the Pacific.  The journal enjoys a diverse global readership and has been recognized in many major law and social science periodical indices.

The appointee will be responsible for managing the submission and peer review process via the Journal’s “Editorial Manager” system.  Duties will include seeking the advice of editorial board members, finding and inviting well-qualified reviewers, soliciting reviews within set timeframes, collating reviewer feedback and working closely with the two Co-Editors-in-Chief to decide on the suitability of manuscripts for publication.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with not less than 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience.  S/he is expected to possess:

  1. A sound early-stage record of practice and scholarship in the field of law and/or social sciences;
  2. Managerial skills to oversee the editorial cycle and meet deadlines;
  3. Excellent English language skills;
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills; and
  5. Previous publishing and reviewing experience, but this is not essential.


Full training on “Editorial Manager” system will be provided by Taylor & Francis Publisher’s peer-review systems team.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
