Counsellor in the Student Development Services [Ref. B/339/09]

 

Duties

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Development Services (Counselling), the appointee will be responsible for:

  1. Providing psychological counselling to students;
  2. Designing and conducting workshops for students to facilitate their mental wellness and personal/life skills development;
  3. Conducting psychological assessments and surveys;
  4. Managing campus-wide student development projects;
  5. Handling cases that require crisis intervention;
  6. Liaising with academic staff, family members and outside agencies on student welfare/well-being matters;
  7. Offering support to university colleagues in approaching vulnerable students; and
  8. Performing any other duties as assigned.


Work on irregular hours may be required.


Requirements

A Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology/Counselling Psychology/Educational Psychology/Psychological Counselling or equivalent from universities in Hong Kong or overseas; and should be registered or be eligible to register in the Hong Kong Psychological Society, or certified by the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association or other internationally well-recognized professional bodies, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in counselling and student development.  Ability to offer counselling in both English and Cantonese (preferably including Putonghua), and good interpersonal and teamwork skills are required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
