Manager of CityU Exhibition Gallery (at the rank of Executive Officer I/II) in the Office of the Provost [Ref. B/127/09]


Duties

Assist the Director of CityU Exhibition Gallery to undertake the following duties:

  1. Oversee the development, implementation, and installation of exhibitions;
  2. Liaise with internal and external constituents once collaborations/partnerships are established;
  3. Create pedagogical material of exhibitions for use by local schools and community organizations;
  4. Be responsible for objects entering and leaving CityU;
  5. Help document and prioritize current objects in storage;
  6. Work with relevant curricular programs at CityU to involve students in different stages of exhibition planning and installation;
  7. Work with Communications and Public Relations Office on marketing and external outreach surrounding exhibitions;
  8. Maintain webpage for exhibitions and relevant information;
  9. Help organize academic conferences with relevant departments around exhibitions;
  10. Manage process of catalogue publication with City University of Hong Kong Press (editing, bilingual versions, relations with external authors, acquiring of images);
  11. Help oversee financial planning and current budget use;
  12. Manage external contractors and tenders as needed; and
  13. Perform any other assignments.

 



Requirements

A Master's degree in Art History/Cultural Heritage Studies/Museum Studies or related disciplines, with at least 7 years' relevant working experience, preferably in the higher education sector.  Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); computer literacy in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and web/multimedia applications; good organizational and problem-solving skills; traits of being self-motivated and resourceful; ability to work independently and with tight deadlines; and a strong sense of responsibility are required.  Candidates with less working experience may be considered for appointment as Executive Officer II.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.



Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
