Technical Officer (Electrical and Mechanical) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/492/09]

 

Duties

The appointees will be responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of building services on campus, and the design, procurement and renovation works.  Main duties include to:

  1. Ensure building services installation in full compliance with statutory requirements;
  2. Execute maintenance services procedure and related duties;
  3. Manage, coordinate and supervise contractors’ work on alterations, additions and building services maintenance;
  4. Conduct condition survey and arrange preventive maintenance;
  5. Ensure the facilities of the University be maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner;
  6. Initiate and implement improvement works by in-house team or contractors;
  7. Liaise with user departments on day-to-day activities, and deliver efficient and effective services to users;
  8. Cooperate with the Project Teams to do infrastructure enhancement works; and
  9. Attend emergency calls and perform any other assignments.


Overtime work and shift duties (including night shift) may be required.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”), and at least 5 years’ hands-on experience in operation, maintenance or project works related to building services operation and maintenance.  Proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word and Excel); good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; commitment to teamwork; good interpersonal skills; being self-motivated; capability to supervise in-house and out-sourced works; and ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required.  Preference will be given to candidates with substantial working experience in higher education institutions.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
