Chief Technical Officer (Building Maintenance) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/429/09]


Duties

The appointee is responsible for the repair and maintenance of building fabrics on campus, and the design, procurement and construction work.  Main duties include to:

  1. Lead, manage and supervise a team of in-house staff;
  2. Manage, coordinate and supervise contractors’ work on alterations, additions and building maintenance;
  3. Conduct condition survey and arrange preventive maintenance;
  4. Ensure the facilities of the University be maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner;
  5. Initiate and implement improvement works by in-house team or contractors;
  6. Liaise with user departments on day-to-day activities, and deliver efficient and effective services to users;
  7. Act as the officer-in-charge of emergency team;
  8. Manage off-campus institutional stores; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Overnight shift is required.


Requirements

A Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate or equivalent in Building Surveying/Building Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”), and at least 10 years’ relevant working experience in building maintenance.  Good experience in building maintenance, knowledge of and skills in operating basic office computer software (including Word and Excel), being motivated and reliable in discharging duties under minimum supervision, strong leadership skills, good sense in handling urgent matters, and good command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required.  Proficiency in Putonghua and software (such as AutoCAD, Photoshop and Virtual Image) would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
