Assistant Communications Manager in CityU Dongguan Campus Office [Ref. A/420/09]


Duties

The appointee will assist in matters related to media relations and publicity programmes of the to‐be‐built CityU Campus in Dongguan of Guangdong Province (DG). Roles and responsibilities include to:

  1. Develop story ideas for publication, which may include feature stories or short news articles on the development of CityU (DG);
  2. Write materials in Chinese to promote the international brand of CityU (DG), including (but not limited to) stories and news articles, newsletters, media releases, social media posts, web content, event promotion, and video scripts;
  3. Manage social media platforms of CityU (DG), such as Wechat and Facebook;
  4. Edit and proofread materials in English including (but not limited to) stories and news articles, social media posts, web content, event promotion, and video scripts;
  5. Develop and expand media and government relations together with the team;
  6. Plan and implement some brand and PR events for CityU (DG);
  7. Coordinate and arrange public media’s interview and external visits; and
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.


Frequent travels to Mainland China will be required.


Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Communications/Marketing or related disciplines with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in media relations, events management and marketing communications of Mainland China projects.  Candidates should have proven track record in media relations, events management, branding and marketing, and social media applications.  Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and the ability to work under tight schedules and perform diversified duties are required.  Knowledge of higher education in Hong Kong and solid experience in handling branding/marketing projects for a sizeable corporation would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
