Technical Officer (MVAC) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/395/09]

 

Duties

Assist in overseeing the operation, maintenance and upgrading of MVAC systems and system interface with other E&M systems installed in campus buildings, staff quarters, student hostels and off-campus areas.  Main duties include to:

  1. Ensure MVAC installation in full compliance with statutory requirements;
  2. Exercise tight control on cost, quality of work and project programmes;
  3. Supervise in-house staff and contractor’s staff for routine and emergency maintenance, repair and inspection works;
  4. Conduct failure investigation and make recommendations for service enhancement;
  5. Suggest/implement energy saving initiatives;
  6. Assist in safety and technical training; and
  7. Attend emergency calls and perform any other assignments.


Night shift is required.

Requirements

A good honours degree/Diploma/Certificate/Apprenticeship in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines, a registered electrical worker (Grade A), a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”), competent person qualification of confined space, and at least 5 years’ hands-on experience in operation, maintenance or project works related to large scale chiller plant operation and maintenance.  Solid work experience in operation and maintenance of water cooled chiller, cooling tower and air-cooled chiller plants; good knowledge of and experience in chiller sequencing control, chiller plant system control, aged chiller plant overhaul, design and operation of MVAC installation, MVAC alternation works and Building Management System (BMS); proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word and Excel); good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; commitment to teamwork; good interpersonal skills; being self-motivated; capability to supervise in-house and out-sourced works; and ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required.  Preference will be given to candidates with substantial working experience in educational institutions.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
